About us

The Young Americans Club, or YAMC for short, is a social club for American and American-Austrian expats and diaspora living in Austria and its EU neighbors, as well as for our Austrian counterparts. 

Everyone who speaks English proficiently qualifies for membership. If you wish to apply for membership, you must speak English. If you don't speak English you can still qualify for membership: you MUST either be a citizen of an American country, or have lived in an American nation for more than one year AND speak Spanish proficiently. Each application will be reviewed individually. 

Our goal and sole aim is to provide "American" expats far away from home a sense of unity and community and provide Austrians with a cultural bridge into America. We organize weekend escapes and getaways such as our annual Summerwhite music & arts festival in a 900 year-old Austrian castle, as well as BBQ's, trips, excursions, pool parties, many-day hiking tours, day trips, ice climbing, rock climbing, bouldeing, sledging/sleighing, snowshoeing, a weekly creative writing meet as well as winter ski trips.
Membership costs 20 Euros per year and includes access to member-only events, as well as discounted tickets to the famous annual Summerwhite music & arts festival.

Membership is open to only citizens of "American" heritage (of the north, central, and south American continent), or those foreigners who display outstanding achievements in learning the American languages (Spanish, English or Portuguese) and speak at least one of them fluently, understand the cultural intricacies of the American continent, are aligned and in-sync with our group and our collective outlook, and have lived at least for one year in an American country and can provide proof of legal residency.
If you do not qualify for membership, do not fear, you can still attend our castle parties and other events as the guests of one of the members.

Summerwhite 2023

On July 7th, it's back! The beloved, long-awaited annual festival is here, for the sixth time! It's Tuesday-Sunday and it will be the greatest, most amazing event of your summer in a 900 year-old Austrian castle called Burg Dürnstein. There will be no more than exactly 60 spots for 60 people from all over this beautiful Earth.
